Do you ever feel there must be something more to life?

About Section

Find the courage to change

The world today is changing fast. It can feel hard, even scary. But the Buddha taught us that change makes incredible growth possible.

Here at Southampton Buddhist Centre, you can discover those possibilities for yourself.

Learn to meditate. Find out how to apply the Buddha’s insights. Engage your heart and imagination in festivals and ceremonies.

And do it all in a supportive environment. Deepening spiritual friendship is at the centre of everything we do.

Whatever brings you here, you’re more than welcome. Come on in.

Be part of something bigger

When you come here, you’re not just visiting your local Buddhist group. You’re plugging into a worldwide movement called Triratna.

Triratna was founded in 1967 by Sangharakshita. He was an Englishman who lived as a Buddhist monk in India for 20 years.

When he returned to the UK, Sangharakshita started building a new Buddhist community. A community of friends who centre their lives on humanity’s highest values. Who aim to bring the Buddha’s vision to life in today’s world.

Triratna’s core idea is that anyone can devote their life to Buddhism. Whatever your lifestyle, Buddhist principles can be the centre of your life.
